Outfield uses use inexpensive, off-the-shelf drones loaded with automatic flight plans generated in the Outfield web app. With the click of a button, the user can launch a 30-minute automated drone flight to survey thousands of trees. The images are then processed on the cloud-based platform using proprietary image recognition algorithms. Within 24 hours, the system provides the farm with maps of fruit loading, blossom density, or tree size. This data is used by growers to predict yield, manage resources, and run automated precision spraying, among other things. Outfield can increase production, reduce costs and waste, and increase sales prices, resulting in a 10% increase in growers' profits.
