What they do
This technology, based on research from the University of Oxford and Münster University, uses photonics on chip to achieve orders of magnitude performance improvement in AI processing.
Product & technology
Salience is developing a new processor with a hybrid photonic-electronic architecture. Photonics allows for clock speeds of up to 100 GHz, compared to a cap of around 5 GHz for traditional electronic chips. Furthermore, Salience's approach to photonic computing uses a broad bandwidth of light, parallelizing calculations up to 64x with different wavelengths of light.
