What they do
By providing a "missing biopsy" for psychiatry, the company aims to reduce the trial-and-error nature of treating severe mental illnesses by matching therapies to patients' specific underlying biology.
Product & technology
The company has developed an end-to-end human neuronal cell screening platform. MeOmics converts patient blood samples into stem cells, which are then grown into active nerve cell networks. The platform captures electrical signal data from these cells and uses AI/ML to analyze it alongside clinical and genomic data. This allows them to stratify patient types and predict how they will respond to targeted therapies before clinical trials even begin.
Why we invested
- →Severe mental illnesses cost over $900 billion annually, and there is currently a 93% failure rate in psychiatric clinical trials due to poor patient selection and translation.
- →Pioneering precision psychiatry by generating clinically relevant human data using stem-cell models and AI, mimicking the successful precision biomarker approach that revolutionized oncology.
- →Established platform ready for immediate commercial entry via B2B cell-based assay services for biopharma compound testing, generating early cash flow.
